Hourly Fee

For psychotherapy services not covered by insurance my fee is $160 for  hour-long sessions.

Services such as phone calls or written reports may be billed per quarter-hour at a pro-rated fee.  There is no fee for emergency calls.

Using Insurance?

For in-network services covered by insurance (Highmark, BC/BS, Medicare, UPMC), individual plans determine the deductible and co-payment.

For other insurance products, out-of-network benefits will sometimes cover a large portion of psychotherapy fees after the annual deductible is met.

Most insurance cards list a phone number for Behavioral Health. Please use this number to contact your insurer before our first session to learn the coverage your policy provides.

By law you are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your medical care will cost. For more information, see the section entitled “Good Faith Estimate” below.

Please plan to pay fees at the time of service. For in-person sessions, cash and checks are preferred, and I am able to process credit cards. I will bill virtual sessions and co-payments on an ongoing basis.

No Show and Late-Cancellation Fees:

There is no fee when appointments are cancelled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Otherwise, the fee for missed appointments or late cancellations is $100.

Good Faith Estimate

According to federal No Surprises Act,  health care providers are required to give patients who don’t have insurance or aren’t using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services before the initial session.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medial tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item.
  • You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule and item or service.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
  • Make sure to save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
